Our Grizedale Store

Since taking over the running of hire at Grizedale Forest in August 2020 we have moved the hire centre to a more convenient location in the building, completely revamped the shop, and introduced demo bikes on site for people to ride if they're considering purchasing a new bike.

The site was more than a little tired and after a month of drilling / sawing / hammering / painting and installing electrics / plumbing / security we are finally open in this "interesting" climate we find ourselves in!!

Our new hire centre houses Danny who is on hand to take bookings, offer route advice, and book you in if you've already booked bikes in advance. Once booked in, our new collection area features plenty of space to social distance within whilst Seth goes through all aspects of our bikes with you.

If you turn up at the forest with an issue or have problems whilst riding around then we have Jack in the workshop who can fix most problems for you. We try to keep all major components in stock to get you back up and running, but if needs be we generally have a hire or demo bike we can loan you so your day isn't spoiled if the worst should happen and we can't fix your bike.

For those of you who like a bit of retail therapy before or after your ride we have a very swanky shop looked after by Cammy that houses plenty of kit to keep you warm and dry in the forest and beyond. We have clothing, helmets, shoes, protection and many many shiny things for men, women and youths the whole year through.

We are lucky enough to stock some of the greatest bike brands out there, and we are certainly not afraid of the unusual or different in Biketreks. All the bikes on our shop floor (plus many more in our store room) are demo bikes which can be taken out and ridden in the forest for a £100 fee.

We stock demo bikes from Specialized, Hope, Forestal, Forbidden, Santa Cruz, Pivot and Transition. We have both electric and non electric offerings and when things return to something resembling "normal" we will host our very popular demo days again.

When it comes to parts and accessories you'll find plenty of bling to feast your eyes on from Hope, Chris King and Deity. Our main brand and partner in crime is Burgtec with the wonderful DC supplying all the pedals for our hire and demo bikes, as well as plenty of kit to adorn our demo bikes. With it's bright colours, superb quality, and affordability Burgtec is the go to brand for most mountain bikers and we keep everything from chain rings to stems, saddles to coloured fork axles in stock.

Keeping you warm / dry / cool / looking awesome we have clothing from Fox, Altura, and Dharco. Footwear is obviously supplied by Five Ten (I'm not obsessed honestly!) with some Specialized mixed in for good measure.

We stock plenty of helmets for all riders from toddlers looking for flashing lights and MIPS, to Fox full face RPC's. In our hire centre we use the Sweet Protection Ripper helmets to keep you safe and sell them in the shop once you've realised how good they are!

We are open 7 days a week from 9:00am to 5:00pm during the summer (winter opening is 9am-4pm closed Wednesday & Thursday) and there is always someone on hand to help you choose or understand what options we have on site.

We are in the forest for the next 10 years and have many many plans on the horizon but we are always interested to know what you as visitors or locals would like to see so just let us know and we will see what we can do....

I'm giving the Forestry a couple of years of peace and quiet, and then year 3 we are tackling the trails so watch this space....
